Golem, 2.5D Puzzle-Platformer Launches On Steam May 29th

Longbow Games announced that their 2.5D puzzle-platformer, Golem, is prepping to launch on May 29th at the end of the month on Steam. The game will be available for only $14.99, so if you’re on a budget and you’re looking for something new to add to your ever-growing library, or if you’re new to PC gaming and you enjoy puzzle-platformers, you can look to get your hands on the title before June gets underwya.

The game is in 3D, but the platforming and adventuring relies on 2.5D mechanics, so it’s very similar to the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles, but with a much heavier reliance on puzzle-solving rather than assassinating people.

You’ll have a shape-shifting Golem at your disposal as you play an olive-skinned girl who appears to be Middle-Eastern.

You’ll move the Golem through the stages, changing his shape in order to solve certain puzzles, move certain objects, or access new pathways.

The main objective is to reactive some mysterious ancient machines, which will require the young girl to master the abilities of the Golem in order to do so.

According to Rob McConnell, the president at Longbow Games, the team wanted to do something different by diving into a sub-genre of platforming that diverged from their typical games, saying in the press release…

“Golem is a different style of title for Longbow Games and we’re excited to see how our fans take to the game. We enjoy making people think with our strategy games and we believe the puzzles in Golem will follow this trend to make for an entertaining game experience.”

The full game will have 10 levels to conquer, each with their own unique twists and gimmicks. It kind of reminds me of that other indie game, The Girl and the Robot, which in turn reminded me a lot of Ico. Anyway, you can wishlist the game or learn more by visiting the Steam store page.
