Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has a new dev update out that shows a new Japanese-themed stage. The 2.5D action-adventure game is set to release for PC via Steam and GOG, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, and Switch in the first half of 2018.
Publisher 505 Games and developers ArtPlay and DICO have followed up on the last Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night spooky Halloween update, dev update 9, with the tenth and most likely last update video for the year 2017.
The Kickstarter game seems to be going as planned, which should be music to the ears of backers and fans of Castlevania type games.
We learn from Koji Igarashi, the creator of the game in question, that the development team have been very busy working up emotion in assets and the game’s environment:
“This month we’ve been busy adding interactive assets to make the environment more lively, so you can see things moving and spinning as you navigate the stages.”
On the topic of environments, a new stage with Japanese motif has popped up. The new location still rocks the 2.5D design seen in previous Bloodstained videos, which is further elaborated on below:
“In today’s update, we’re sharing a new stage! It’s inspired by a traditional Japanese motif. Please enjoy the scenery and the colorful autumn leaves in this video preview.”
The animations still seem to be in discussion among viewers, in which Iga and team are aware of and might fix later on. There’s no telling if the change of animations will sate those who are put off by them, though.
Anyway, you can either watch two videos unveiling new weapons and a Santa hat for Miriam, by hitting up the December #1 and December #2 treat links.
