One Piece World Seeker Trailer Reveals Sandbox Adventure That Borrows From Spider-Man

Bandai Namco rolled out a new trailer for One Piece World Seeker, the upcoming open-world sandbox game for home consoles and PC. Developer Ganbarion is heading up the development, featuring the ability to run around in a freely explorable open-world sandbox.

The trailer is only a minute and 43 seconds long but it spends about an entire minute just giving a brief flyby of one of the locations you’ll be able to visit in the game.

We finally get to see some real action near the end of the trailer, where Luffy is gliding above the treetops, scaling the wall, and making his way above obstacles and platforms. You can check it out below.

It isn’t until near the very end of the trailer do they tease the game’s combat system. We briefly get to see a few combos, and some quick hits against some muscle-bound pirates.

The game has an interesting combat system because it’s not like the other games made by Spike Chunsoft, which were more like arena-based fighters. The trailer wraps up with a slight gag mimicking Metal Gear Solid, where Luffy is in a barrel, sneaking around similar to the way Snake and Raiden would sneak around in a cardboard box.

Given the game’s graphics fidelity, it’s unlikely that we’ll see it on the Nintendo Switch unless they take a lot of time to overhaul and downgrade the graphics.

The game is due out in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and Steam.
