Digerati Distribution announced that Nerdook Productions’ Monster Slayers will finally make its console debut for the PS4, and Xbox One starting May 15th. The rogue-like card combat game with deck-building and turn-based battles will be available as a digital download from PSN and Xbox Live.
Monster Slayers will launch first in North America for the PS4 on May 15th, and then a day later on May 16th for those in Europe. A couple of days after that the game will be available for the Xbox One on May 18th, and the PlayStation Vita version still doesn’t have a solid release date yet.
The game is a mixture of traditional deck-building from a CCG but with turn-based combat reminiscent of classic JRPGs.
The goal is to go on an adventure by creating a hero who joins the Monster Slayers Guild, and you’ll need to journey through the Northern Valley in order to defeat the Harbinger. Only then can you truly become the one and only Monster Slayer.
The gameplay trailer below gives you an idea of just how hectic the combat can get, along with some of the cards, spells, strategies and tactics you can employ during each battle.
You’ll find yourself doing battle against monsters, dragons, bandits, outlaws, the undead, goblins, and even animals. You’ll need to collect combat cards, skill cards, status cards, and more as you loot treasure across the land, defeat bosses, and unlock new skills and traits for your character class in order to get strong and unlock your special abilities.
There are 12 different character classes in total to choose from, each with their own special skills and traits, and after mastering the classes and beating the game you’ll be able to unlock a special Legendary Mode.
Monster Slayers is currently available for PC after having launched back in the fall of 2017, but console gamers looking for something different to sink their teeth into can check out Monster Slayers starting May 15th.
