Telltale Games and Skybound Entertainment announced that Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season will launch for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting August 14th, 2018 later this year across all regions. Additionally, the game will also be available on the Nintendo Switch at a later, unannounced date.
The first episode will be available in August, but pre-orders go live on June 8th. Additionally the game will be available digitally from Steam, GOG.com, GamersGate, the Mac Game Store, and the Humble Store with a 10% off discount for those who pre-order.
They outline the final season’s description, explaining that Clementine is a strong independent woman who doesn’t need no man, and that after years of being on the road and traveling, she finally happens upon a secluded school that she feels might be a place for her to call home.
They reveal that Clementine will have to make sacrifices in order to keep the school safe and protect AJ, the last piece of family she has left.
You’ll be able to take control of Clementine’s story and decide how it ends… for dire or for worse.
One interesting new thing about the press release is that they’re promoting the new black-ink art-style that is based around the actual art-style used in the Walking Dead graphic novel from Robert Kirkman.
Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season will also support 4K native resolution on PC, along with HDR for platforms that support it.
Another new feature is the over-the-shoulder camera system, which will allow you to engage in “unscripted” combat, similar to games like Resident Evil 6.
They’re also standing by the choice-driven narrative, which I hope is based on the diverse story outcomes that they presented in Batman: The Enemy Within, where player choices and decisions really did affect outcomes, relationships and the different story elements, as well as who lived and who died.
