Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden Deluxe Edition Comes With Digital Pen-And-Paper RPG Book

Norwegian studio Funcom announced that Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden is currently available for pre-order. Now it’s probably best not to pre-order the game unless you’re 100% guaranteed it’s a game you want to add to your library, but the upcoming isometric tactical action game will be available in standard format for $34.99.

A deluxe edition is also available for pre-order for $54.99, and it contains a digital copy of the original 1980s Mutant Year Zero pen-and-paper RPG book. The deluxe edition also will give you three days of early access to a beta version of the game, along with digital desktop wallpapers, a digital art book, and a digital soundtrack.

The pre-orders are currently available only for the PC version of the game, but Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will also be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when it launches later this year.

The Unreal Engine-powered tactical turn-based RPG features a mixture of back-and-forth gunplay similar to Firaxis’ XCOM games, along with the ability to bypass some encounters by utilizing stealth kills and making your way around the environments to avoid combat.

Funcom has been providing gamers with various developer insight videos, highlighting the gameplay and the mechanics, and how players will be able to pick and choose how they approach exploring levels and completing missions.

While the game is very similar to XCOM in terms of combat encounters, it’s a lot closer to the likes of Baldur’s Gate or Jagged Alliance when it comes to picking up missions and traversing the environments.

You’ll also be able to loot gear and upgrade the three playable characters so that they can fit your playstyle.

If you’re still unsure about the gameplay of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, there’s a 17 minute video published by DualShockers that showcases some of the map traversal, exploration, and looting, along with some combat segments.

You can look for the story-driven role-playing game to launch this fall for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It’s going to be a crowded line-up so hopefully it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.
