Deadside, Realistic Survival MMOFPS Enters Early Access On Steam

Russian developer Bad Pixel recently had their survival MMOFPS, Deadside, enter into Early Access on Steam. You can pick up a digital copy of the game from the store page for just $19.99.

The game is set in a 50 square kilometer map, but for the full version they plan on extending the map to 225 square kilometers. At the moment it contains 15 types of firearms, but they hope to expand on that in the near future as well.

There are a couple of different vehicles you can commandeer to make travel safer and more convenient, as well as the ability to build your own base from the raw materials you gather up from around the game world.

Much like DayZ you’ll also have to contend with survival elements such as eating and maintaining your health, as well as enemy NPCs roaming around. You can get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

Basically it’s like a lot of other survival MMOs out there, just with a higher grade of polish and a more streamlined sense of gameplay.

We’re seeing a lot of the DayZ and Rust-style clones finally come to fruition with a sense of quality where they’re not just some half-working, thrown-together mish-mash of scams and broken promises.

To help set itself apart from the competition, Deadside also has NPC missions you can pick up and go on, as well as detailed and realistic weapon handling, very similar to Escape From Tarkov.

The animations are of particular note because both the first-person player view models and the third-person world view models have detailed leaning, running, squatting, aiming, and reloading animations to help the game’s combat and weapon handling feel immersive and dynamic.

They have plans on keeping Deadside in Early Access for anywhere between 12 and 18 months. So don’t expect to see the final product made available until 2021 or 2022.

Still, if you were interested in the game you can check it out or learn more by visiting the Steam store page.
