While Gmod Tower is no longer attached to Garry’s Mod, and has appropriately become its own game in Tower Unite, it’s no less bombastic in its steady approach to becoming one of the most robust online hangouts available in the gaming space. The team at PixelTail Games proved as much with update 0.9.0.0 as part of the Early Access run of the Kickstarted game, which features 22 brand new playable games as part of the WarpZone Arcade.
The update is one for the ages, and could very well be its own separate game apart from the rest of Tower Unite.
As mentioned, it features 22 mini-games, each with their own unique designs, animations, sound effects, and music.
It all looks like high-quality, professional work, which you can get a glimpse of below with the trailer themed around the WarpZone Arcade.
Like a lot of people mentioned in the comments, I can’t wait for the music track from the trailer to be made available to the general public!
As you win games, rack up score, and earn your place on the leaderboards, you’ll be able to unlock up to 180 different arcade prizes, from plushies to vehicles to toy weapons.
The update also brought with it a ton of new bug fixes and optimization for better compatibility, and they added the option to change the HUD style with four different themes.
Some of the issues causing crashes have also been fixed, along with a lot of other small quality of life improvements.
I always loved the concept of GMod Tower, and I’m glad they branched off into their very own game. Again, the polish and quality that they put into the project is off the charts, and if you enjoy casual party games and great MMO-style atmospheres without all of the annoying grinding or corporate cash shop grifting, then definitely feel free to give Tower Unite a look-see.
It’s currently still in Early Access over on the Steam store, carrying a $14.99 price tag with it.
