Fallout 76 PC Item Hack Goes Widespread And Gets Bethesda’s Attention

It has only been hours, and Fallout 76 has a hack going viral like the social injustice plague spreading throughout the games industry. The hack allows players to steal items from other players from afar or up close and laugh all the way to the bank using this exploit on PC.

If you want a summary of the whole situation and do not want to read through the following post to get up to speed on all things Bethesda and Fallout 76, then you can watch YouTuber YongYea cover the disastrous new issue right here:

Although the hack or exploits currently going on in this game aren’t new given that they can be traced back to Fallout 4, the issues have reared their heads once more and are now haunting Fallout 76 players — you know, the handful of gullible people still playing this joke of a cash grab.

Well, the PC hack allowing players to steal anyone’s inventory from afar during a holiday event has caught Bethesda’s attention.

Before elaborating on Bethesda’s recent response, back on November 5th, IGN caught wind of a Bethesda PR person denying the cause that led to this holiday hack:

“Many of the claims in the thread are either inaccurate or based on incorrect assumptions. The community has however called to attention several issues that our teams are already actively tracking and planning to roll out fixes for. Our goal is always to deliver a great experience for all our players. Cheating or hacking will not be tolerated.”

Now, keep in mind that the Bethesda PR person claims that the lead up to the holiday hack is blown out of proportion and inaccurate. With that in mind, the new deed of taking stuff from random people instead of giving random people stuff during the holiday season is more real than “blown out of proportion.”

With a mission to make all the naïve sheep that still play this mess of a game holiday that much worse, YouTuber Vonwiclehoffer went out to ’tis the season the best way he knew how despite the dislikes on the following video:

“A new hack was introduced earlier today that allows for stealing other players entire inventories, here’s a little bit of some fun we had with it.”

With all of that out of the way, Bethesda’s response to the situation spiraling out of control on r/fo76 as of December 23rd, 2019, sits below:

“Hi everyone,

We are investigating reports of a PC-only exploit that could be abused by cheaters, which may have resulted in a few players losing items that their characters had equipped. We have been actively working toward a solution for this and have a fix that we are currently evaluating for release today.

While we’ve determined that only a small number of characters have been negatively affected, we are taking this very seriously and resolving this is currently our top priority.

We would like to apologize to those of you who were impacted by this exploit. We want to make this right, and we are currently looking into ways we may be able to compensate you. If you believe you have been affected, please let us know by submitting a ticket to our Customer Support team.

As mentioned above, this issue only affects PC, and we are currently planning to bring the PC version of the game offline today to release a fix. We will let you know as soon as we are ready to begin maintenance.

Thank you very much.”

Remember to exercise caution when downloading or buying this game, which is the software abortion known as Fallout 76.
