If you’ve been contemplating purchasing the alpha build of Star Citizen but you don’t want to plop down $45 for it, there’s a “Free Fly” week currently taking place, where you’re able to freely fly around in the game and check out the persistent universe for an entire week.
Starting from 12:00PM PT on October 28th, to 11:59 PM PT on November 3rd, you can play Star Citizen for free. They’ve also reduced the starter pack down to $40 during the free fly week to entice gamers to contribute to the project.
You can hop into the game as part of the alpha 3.7 free fly week by visiting the Free Fly page on the RSI website.
The promotion will allow players to hop into five different ships without having to pay for them, including the Consolidated Outland Mustang Alpha, the Banu Defender, the RSI Aurora MR, the Drake Cutlass Black, and the Avenger Titan.
Alpha 3.7 dropped during the middle of October, introducing gamers to the procedurally generated cave system, the new personal-mining tool, and mission sharing.
The mission sharing is definitely one of the bigger updates to the alpha and one of the most requested features for the game given that a lot of players would take on bounties, retrieval missions, or fetch quests but if they were in a party they weren’t able to share the quests and reap the benefits and rewards with their teammates. Well, with the mission sharing feature implemented into alpha 3.7, now it’s possible to share your missions with your teammates.
In addition to mission sharing, the ability to harvest resources across various locations for credits or supplies adds an additional meta to the game, along with being able to rent ships using in-game currency.
For naysayers and haters, this is a perfect opportunity to play-test the game for free. For people who don’t have a computer powerful enough to play the game, well you can always watch better people play via YouTube or Twitch.
