Castle Costume, 3D Collect-A-Thon Adventure Releases October 31st On PS4

Irish game developers Loveridge Designs from out of County Wicklow, announced that their 3D platformer, Castle Costume, is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 starting October 31st at the end of the month. The game is also scheduled to arrive on the Nintendo Switch starting in the fourth quarter.

The game is a complete retro throwback to the classic 3D collect-a-thon games from the N64 and PS2 era… you know, back when games used to be good.

Players take on the role of a young boy who must travel through four different Halloween-themed worlds in order to stop a former child who has turned into an angry and scornful villain named Angry Aaron. Players must meet with various characters, complete quests and solve puzzles in order to restore peace and order to the world.

You can get an idea of what he gameplay is like with the trailer below.

The gameplay reminds me a lot of Banjo Kazooie meets Medievil. The aesthetics seem to be similar to a Halloween-themed version of A Hat In Time. Hopefully they can manage to get the game up and out without turning it into a political statement like what happened to Gears For Breakfast’s 3D platformer.

In any case, if you were looking to expand your library with a serviceable-looking 3D adventure game with platforming and lots of collecting, it looks like Castle Costume might be a decent game to check out when it launches this Halloween on the PS4.

If you prefer expanding your library of Nintendo Switch games, then you can wait until the fourth quarter of 2019 to get your hands on the game for just $9.99. For now it looks like the game is only going to be available as a digital download, but hopefully much like Valfaris or My Friend Pedro, we’ll see a physical release down the road as well.
