Hidetaka Miyazaki Reportedly Says Bloodborne 2 Isn’t Up To Him To Make

Bloodborne 2 is a game that surfaces up every year in the E3 rumor mill. Unsurprisingly, nothing ever comes to fruition regarding a second iteration of the game being in the works. This time around, Hidetaka Miyazaki says that making a sequel to the hit game is not up to him.

While I’m sure the news of a second Bloodborne (an IP owned by Sony) game would go over more than well with gamers and fans alike, sadly, the Dark Souls spin-off looks like its a one and done thing according to past interviews and a new one as of 2019.

To put things into perspective, way back in 2015, GameSpot (archive.org) struck up an interview with Miyazaki and asked him if Bloodborne 2 was in the works. Here’s what Miyazaki had to say:

“I don’t think it’d be the right choice to continue indefinitely creating Souls and Bloodborne games. I’m considering Dark Souls 3 to be the big closure on the series. That’s not just limited to me, but From Software and myself together want to aggressively make new things in the future… I believe that From Software has to create new things. There will be new types of games coming from us, and Dark Souls 3 is an important marker in the evolution of From Software.”

And with those words spoken more than three years ago, he’s right, with Elden Ring in the works, which comes right on the heels of Dark Souls 3, From Software is trying to do more than Bloodborne and Dark Souls.

Fast forward to 2019, and we have the mind behind the popular Soulsborne titles appear on GameSpot Brazil during Brazil Game Show 2019. The interview ran through a series of questions, with one of them being, “Will there be a Bloodborne 2?”

Video game leaker and social media personality Nibel caught wind of this interview and translated some of Miyazaki’s answers:

So there you have it. Next time you see a rumor floating around in regards to Bloodborne 2 or an E3 2020 leak saying a second game is in the works, you now know it’s fake given that From Software right now wants to do more than Bloodborne and Dark Souls.
