Can Star Wars Jedi Survivor Bring Life Back To The Star Wars Franchise?

The Star Wars franchise has constantly felt highs and lows since it began. While the original trilogy received great acclaim, then there was The Star Wars Holiday Special that was so bad people have tried to erase it from history altogether. Then when the series returned with the prequel trilogy, this too divided opinions of the fans some loving it, some hating it with a burning passion.

The same exact thing is happening now with the recent trilogy, ending with Rise Of Skywalker, a film that is pretty universally panned by the fanbase. Also with the TV shows on Disney Plus. While The Mandalorian is plauded as an amazing piece of Television, The Book Of Boba Fett received much less positive praise and the reception to the series as a whole has been pretty varied.

So, it goes without saying, the star wars video games have echoed a similar life to that of the live-action productions. There have been a huge number of classic Star Wars games that stand the test of time. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic was released in 2003 and is still a game that fans play regularly. That doesn’t happen very often in the video game industry with games evolving so much that most people have their focus on the newest releases. Many prefer to play thrilling games like online bitcoin slots, which offer various themes, features, and settings, because of their convenience and excitement. However, the loyal fans of Star Wars games stick to the classic gameplay instead, as it stays true to the game’s original storyline.

The Prequel Trilogy Was a Busy Time

The games have moved on in each generation of gaming and everyone will always have their own opinion on the ranking of Star Wars games.  On PlayStation 1 there was the tie-in game for Star Wars The Phantom Menace, a great game that followed the plot of the film but expanded upon it greatly. Then there were many tie-in games for Star Wars Attack Of The Clones, in fact, there were six different games that tied in with the film; Jedi Starfighter, Galactic Battlegrounds, Clone Campaigns, Clones Wars, New Droid Army and Bounty Hunter. Following on from this Star Wars Revenge of The Sith released its own tie-in game, with Star Wars Battlefront releasing both original games in the prequel trilogy era. There were even the Star Wars Lego games coming out around this time as well. It is safe to say we all had our fair share of star wars games.

As The Playstation 3 games we then saw the release of Star Wars The Force Unleased, featuring the story of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, Starkiller, who would go on to become a popular Star Wars character for fans. A sequel, Star Wars Force Unleased II was released afterwards, but there was clearly a lot less effort put into the game and it bombed with terrible reviews, destroying the franchise.

There were other moments of hope, the Boba Fett themed 1313 had the interest of a lot of the fans of the games but it was unfortunately cancelled. But we did manage to get an updated version of the Lego games last year, which received a huge amount of praise. That being said, there have been a whole host of rumours of upcoming games which either get cancelled or end up as nothing. Fans will always love Star Wars and be talking about it, asking questions like how to use a custom lightsaber.

The Future of The Games

2019 saw the release of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, a video game that follows the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi on the run as he tries to stay low and hidden away from the Empire. Eventually, he can hide no more and has to rise up and fight against the dark side. The game brought new life into the gaming world of Star Wars and earned itself a sequel, which has been much awaited and comes out soon.

It is going to be the last Star Wars game released by EA as they reach the end of their contract. The game is set to be one of the largest download files in gaming history, showing that EA appear to have pulled out all of the stops for their final game in the franchise, perhaps trying to make up for the fans they upset with the more modern adaptions of the Star Wars Battlefront series, with eh last two additions being much more focused on in-game purchases and not having a storyline mode.

Needless to say Star Wars Jedi Survivor is one of the most anticipated games of the year. As things stand, it looks like it is going to be a successful game that fans will love. Now, with two solid Star Wars games in a row, can Survivor prove that the franchise can be consistent and steady the ship of the Star Wars games?
