Borderlands 3 Rumored To Debut Between 2018 And Early 2019

A new rumor has popped up indicating that Gearbox might release Borderlands 3 sometime during the second quarter of 2018 or as far out as early 2019. The rumor regarding Gearbox’s upcoming Borderlands game comes from an interview with Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, referring to a huge 2K game to launch somewhere between 2018 and 2019.

Notice: The information regarding Borderlands 3 to come out between 2018 and early 2019 comes from fan suggestions and an interview that refers to a “huge” 2K game, and does not specifically call for Borderlands 3 in question to be the exact title to launch between given dates. In other words, take this information with a grain of salt.

Firstly, the 2019 financial year for Take-Two goes from April, 2018 to March 31st, 2019. Additionally, the rumored title that is said to be Borderlands 3 could launch anywhere between April 2018 all the way to March 31st, 2019, according to a new interview.

As of recent, most fans of the series have been asking Randy Pitchford on his Twitter when will a new Borderlands game come out, although no real reply has come forth yet, folks may just have a new title in the ongoing series of games to look forward to ever since Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel came out back in 2014.

In addition to the above, during an interview that publication site gamesindustry.biz struck up with Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, and 2K’s new head, David Ismailer, we learned from Zelnick that fans can expect “a huge new title from 2K” during the 2019 financial year. If you don’t know, 2K Games is the publisher behind the Borderlands games, and so the above information sparked quite a bit of fan attention to create a rumor-mill that believes Borderlands 3 is the “huge” game to come out during the 2019 financial year.

The developer behind the Borderlands games is Gearbox, who has been working on the third title for two years now. It is said that the third game’s tone will be more like the first Borderlands rather than the second title, meaning that the dialogue and other talking points will be more in line with the former rather than the latter.

Furthermore, Take-Two seeks to release a big title or huge game every year, which excludes sports games like WWE 2K and NBA 2K. In addition, some fans believe that the only game to release in 2018 will be Red Dead Redemption, forcing Borderlands 3 to come out sometime through late 2018 to early 2019.

The last piece of info that fans of the Borderlands series are looking to as a clue is a premature listing by a UK retailer who listed the forthcoming game for PS4 and Xbox One a month ago. Most retailers have an early look at games to debut so that they can prep to promote them for the future, which fans believe that Gearbox, 2K and Take-Two have been planning something along the lines of a big reveal. There’s no telling what the publisher and devs will do for Borderlands 3, but time will most certainly tell.
