Microsoft Is Currently In Talks With Sony On Console Cross-Play

Microsoft is said to be in talks with Sony at this very moment regarding Xbox One and PS4 cross-play support. There is no telling whether it will go through or not, but as of now there are some indications that suggest the goal of implementing cross-play just might work.

A long while back Sony was open to collaborate with Microsoft to support cross-play between PlayStation consoles and Xbox home devices, but the deal was declined by Microsoft. Additionally, this stifled any chance of developers taking advantage of this collaboration to get games overlooked on the forefront with said feature, and driving more console units of both parties due to gamers wanting to play with their friends on the opposite platform.

Well, now it seems that Microsoft is now ready to do cross-play with Sony and is currently in talks with the company to see what may come out of the situation. This very information comes from publication site GameRant who noted that at Gamescom 2017, Microsoft’s head of marketing, Aaron Greenberg, confirmed that the company is in talks with Sony About cross-platform play:

“We do partner with them on Minecraft and of course we would like to enable them to be part of that; one community, to unite gamers.”

The site also highlights that Minecraft’s FAQ reveals Sony and Microsoft have been in talks, discussing the matter of cross-play at least for “three weeks”. Cross-play support is also said to make its way over to Studio Wildcard’s Ark: Survival Evolved, but no official word on if it will come or not has surfaced.

The true question behind all of this is: would you like to see cross-play between the PS4 and Xbox One? At this point it is unclear what will happen, but if it does go through will you as a gamer be supportive of this move?
