Not too long ago there was a report about CD Projekt Red key developers departing from development on Cyberpunk 2077 for undisclosed reasons. However there were other reports claiming that the working conditions and “morals” aren’t good there and that’s why both big and small Cyberpunk 2077 devs are leaving CD Projekt Red.
In any case, we as gamers and fans alike may never know the real truth from the outside looking in regarding what’s going on at CD Projekt Red’s studios, but what I can say is that just because key devs depart from a project doesn’t necessarily mean that development is going sour.
In a lot of job fields there are contracts and time limited work that can range from 6 months all the way to several years — which can be re-signed depending on the type of job or field.
In other cases departures can mean a good thing in that the person or people who left from said company accomplished whatever it was that they were contracted to work or needed to cook up, and they were ready to move on to another project.
Now with that all in mind, according to glassdoor.com we see that CD Projekt Red has a rating of 3.1 out of 5, a recommendation to friends sitting at 57% out of 100%, and CEO approval (for Adam Badowski) reflecting numbers of 58% out of 100%. This report by said site and other publication sites saying that the game and company could fold under has prompted co-founder Marcin Iwiński and studio head Adam Badowski to write up the following letter via Twitter:

To sum up the above in case you can’t read it for some reason, the letter basically goes on to say that just because a few devs leave and there are bad reviews here and there doesn’t mean that something is endangered. The letter also touches on the fact that it takes time to do something ambitious and even requires you to update engines and rethink how you will approach the process of developing a game, which in this case would be Cyberpunk 2077.
The letter ends with “Cyberpunk 2077 is progressing as planned,” — and if Studio MDHR’s Cuphead is any indication of staying silent and being delayed so it could be polished for the better, we can look back and see a lot of people saying that it would have been canceled by now and that it would never come out. As it stands now, Cuphead is one of the most well received games of September in that it went platinum less than two weeks and has a lot of videos on YouTube reaching well over millions of views. So maybe the same auspices are in store for CD Projekt Red when Cyberpunk 2077 finally releases.
