CD Projekt Red IR Report Covers Future Projects And Events

Like any other company, CD Projekt Red recently released its Investor Relation (IR) report explaining future projects, business model and calendar of events to take place this February to November 2018. This slightly touches on Cyberpunk 2077 and a new triple-A title.

Without wasting any time, if you happen to be interested in CD Projekt Red’s conference talks there’s good news for you. CDPR on January 30th, 2018 posted up on IR portal its business plans, performance outlooks, future projects, and what’s to come in the year 2018 and beyond.

It’s best to mark your calendar for the above events if you want to hear what the company has in store for gamers and fans alike, as well as what the company plans to do in the future.

CDPR also posted on The IR portal its road map from 2008 to 2018.

The company also reveal on the IR portal its business model and outlook on various things.

There are two things we can take away from the above business model, one is that the new RedEngine is custom tailored to create story-driven open world RPGs, and that it’s ready for future consoles iterations and new PC hardware. The second thing is that there is a big focus on two games, which happens to be that of GWENT and Cyberpunk 2077, which is reiterated numerous of times on the management-board report page:

“Maintaining two separate major franchises (The Witcher and Cyberpunk), in addition to several other independent development teams, enables the Company to conduct parallel work on several projects and smoothens its long-term publishing schedule. This migration towards a two-franchise model supported by several independent product lines also permits optimization of manufacturing and financial activities, mitigates important risk factors and makes it easier for Company employees to seek professional fulfillment.”

Looking over to CDPR’s Strategy for 2016-2021 (which we are now past 2016 and 2017) we can see that Cyberpunk 2077 will release no later than 2021.

Later years 2017-2021:

  • Release of Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Release of another AAA RPG title.
  • Expansion of our core franchises with additional media content and product lines.
  • Further active marketing and support for our earlier releases.
  • Near-twofold expansion of the CD PROJEKT RED team. Creation of four individual teams, two of which will be tasked with development of games representing new segments.
  • Establishment of new local branches of CD PROJEKT RED in key territories.

The last piece of information comes from an older conference call transcript that sees an individual by the abbreviations of “PS” talking to a CDPR member by the abbreviations of “AK”. You can read the conversation via the transcript right here:

“PS: Greetings. Two questions from me: the first concerns current employment offers associated with Cyberpunk. Some online portals report approximately 50 unfilled positions. I wish to inquire about the intended team size for this project–previously it had been reported that approximately 300 people would be involved, so are the 50 offers meant to replace departing staff, or is that a straight increase in team size, as mentioned in your strategy document?”

The response to the above query lies below.

“AK: Regarding job offers – the ratio of open positions to overall team size has remained fairly stable over the recent years. We continue to grow and recruit new staff. As it is not easy to attract outstanding talent, we consider it good practice to always remain on the lookout for potential valuable employees. The Cyberpunk team is mostly complete, and development is ongoing – I wish to disavow the rumors that key positions remain unfilled. However, as remarked before, we post a significant number of job offers to enable dynamic growth of our studio. Given our financial and organizational capabilities, we pursue organic growth. This is our primary mode of expansion–hence the large-scale recruitment drive.”

We later hear a clarified stance that PS first proposed, which reads:

“PS: OK. To clarify–what is the expected target team size for Cyberpunk? Is it 300 or will it grow to 350 in the run-up to the release?”

The response that PS received by AK can be read right here.

“AK: Not counting the testing team, which expands before release, and other employees who become involved immediately prior to release, the core staff is expected to comprise approximately 300 individuals.”
