Warriors Orochi 4 Launches With Split-Screen Co-op October 16th For Switch, PS4, Xbox One

Koei Tecmo announced during this past year’s E3 that Warriors Orochi 4 is set to launch on October 16th, 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4.

The game features 170 playable characters, spanning the Warriors Orochi franchise, which is another thousand-army hack-and-slash title that plays out like other Koei Tecmo titles such as Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors.

The announcement was made during E3 with a debut trailer, which you can check out below.

As pointed out in the trailer, Koei Tecmo is throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the wall for this one. You’ll have playable characters from Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi all jam packed into a single title, bringing their decade’s worth of musou abilities to the PS4, Xbox One and strangely the Nintendo Switch this fall.

As pointed out in the trailer, there’s an all new magic ability that players will be able to utilize in combat against the thousands of on-screen enemies.

Interestingly enough, it was announced that bonus costumes during the first-print copies in Japan for PS4 will include outfits for Xu Shu, Ishida Mitsunari, and Daji.

You’ll also be able to play Zeus from the Greek myth for the very first time. He has his own abilities and powers when fighting, and you can get a glimpse of some of the characters with the preview video below from Quest Gaming TV.

I’m still shocked that this is coming to the Nintendo Switch, especially since Koei Tecmo announced that the split-screen mode is making a return, so you’ll be able to grab a buddy and play local co-op with them from a single device. I don’t know if this will work with the Switch version in portable mode, but if it does that would be a seriously impressive feat.

You can look for the game to launch in Japan this September on PS4, and then later on it will release in the middle of October in North America for PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on the 16th. It will launch a couple of days later in Europe on October 19th for the aforementioned gaming platforms as well.
