If you doubted Microsoft’s commitment to expanding the Xbox brand, look no further than the fact that the company has decided to do away with the “Microsoft” appellation when it comes to representing the game studios portion of the business, replacing it with “Xbox” instead.

The news comes courtesy of a post over on the Xbox News Wire, where it was announced that Microsoft Studios is no more, and now the division will be known as the Xbox Game Studios.

According to the post, the Xbox Game Studios is now comprised of 13 different and distinct development teams working on a number of different games for the Xbox family of systems and Windows 10. This includes already announced projects and teams, such as 343 Industries working on Halo Infinite and The Coalition tackling Gears 5. There’s also Rare, Playground Games, Turn 10 Studios, Undead Labs, inXile Entertainment, Obsidian Entertainment, Mojang, Ninja Theory, Compulsion Games, along with two other studios tackling some new IP for Microsoft.

Of course, having a bunch of studios and attempting to branch out Xbox Live onto platforms like the Nintendo Switch and iOS don’t really matter if the games aren’t good.

Microsoft already got off to a hobbling start with the very crippled Xbox Live Avatars, which are designed entirely to accommodate Social Justice Warriors, but not normal gamers.

Also, the upcoming Gears 5 is also part of Facebook’s social engineering program called “Women In Gaming“, which doesn’t bolster confidence in the future of the brand at all. Designing the game to cater to the new-age feminists who have declared their takeover of gaming even though they don’t actually buy games, as evident with Battlefield V costing EA some major bank.

It’s hard to tell what Microsoft’s end goal is right now but they seem to be stockpiling studios and looking to make a major push toward developing a lot of games during next gen. We’ll see how this all unfolds when the next Xbox and its lineup of games are unveiled, likely at this year’s E3.
