PlayStation 5 Reportedly Won’t Launch In The “Next 12 Months”

A recent write-up from tech reporter of The Wall Street Journal, best known as Takashi Mochizuki, said that Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 will not launch in the “next 12 months.” In industry terms, this means the next PlayStation isn’t slated to release in FY19 (April 2019 – March 2020).

Often known by many names as of recent such as the Soy-station, Censorship-station, Soyny or plain old Sony, a new tweet on the PS5’s potential release from industry tech reporter — based in Tokyo, Japan — comes in by Mochizuki-san.

You can read over the bulleted points in Mochizuki’s tweet that explains no new PlayStation home console for FY19, which spans from April 2019 to March 2020:

Not skeptical but curious, writer Giuseppe Nelva questioned Mochizuki due to the absence of said information in Sony’s conference call:

In addition to the exchanging of words pertaining to the conference call and the PR person informing Nelva on the next PlayStation not launching in FY19, Mochizuki explains that skeptical people should contact their SIE rep to gain the same info:

The SIE rep reportedly told Mochizuki, “the possibility of the next generation of PlayStation will be out by April 2020 is now 0.”

Although Mochizuki relays on multiple occasions that the PS5 will not come out in the next 12 months, it’s best to either take this information with a grain of salt or contact your SIE rep to get a confirmation on the situation.

With all of that said, what are your thoughts on the new PS5 due out in the Fiscal Year 2019? Additionally, when do you think the next Sony home console will release? And when it does release, how do you think its censorship policy will pan out regarding big and small games? You can sound off and offer your thoughts on all of this below.
