While the American version of PlayStation Plus doesn’t appear to be on the chart (yet), usually if there’s a price increase in every other region there’s also a price hike that eventually hits the Americas.

As many users pointed out in the comment threads and on social media, it’s not just that Sony is increasing the price of PlayStation Plus, but it’s also the fact that they removed the free PS3 and PS Vita games from the monthly line-up of titles offered through the subscription service. So now you’re paying more and getting less.

That’s not to mention plenty of multiplayer games still rely on peer-to-peer network connections, so it’s not like every game has high-quality, dedicated servers or as if there’s even an option in most games for players to host their own custom dedicated servers like on PC, which is ironic since PC multiplayer gaming is free.

Anyway, expect to start paying more for PlayStation Plus starting this August. If you haven’t already received the notice, you’ll need to keep an eye out for an e-mail from Sony if you live in Europe or Asia.
