Metal Gear Solid Producer Kenichiro Imaizumi Leaves Kojima Productions

A new report has hit the web and relays that Kenichiro Imaizumi (best known as Ken Imaizumi) has left Kojima Productions. Although Imaizumi’s departure from the company is unknown at the moment, the website that broke the news believes that it’s over Imaizumi not seeing eye-to-eye with other directors at Kojima Productions.

While his departure remains a mystery, there’s no denying that Imaizumi is no longer with Hideo Kojima and crew. However, for those scratching their heads and thinking, “Who is this Imaizumi guy?” Well, you’ve likely heard or even played the titles he’s worked on in the past.

According to the publication that broke the news, website videogameschronicle.com reports some of the titles under his belt, such as every Metal Gear Solid title since Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

In addition to the above, the site also notes that he was the producer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Furthermore, reports say that Imaizumi would show up and appear at different events, and as per the website, he is a common face at Kojima Productions’ public events and on social media. But, a strange turn of events surfaced before his departure from Kojima Productions in that he did not appear at Hideo Kojima’s recent promotional world tour for Death Stranding.

The website followed up his absence from Kojima’s promotional world tour for Death Stranding with a source claiming that Imaizumi left “due to a disagreement with Kojima Productions’ other directors.”

Sadly, when Video Game Chronicle reached out to both Kojima Productions and Imaizumi, they refused to respond to requests for comment on the whole departure story.

Although Imaizumi has not outlined what he’ll be doing next, are you a fan of his work, or can you sleep just fine without him doing anything in the games industry?
