Whether you are a fan of Square Enix or not, it looks like the folks currently over the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake are working on a new intellectual property that will one day land on next-gen consoles.
Catching wind from website gamingbolt.com, Square Enix is working on a new next-gen project that will feature action-oriented content. Sadly, not much is known about the IP, but the website offers a slight look into the future.
Sourcing from jp.square-enix.com, the recruitment and career page reflects the First Development Division team has titles such as Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3, and other well-known games under its belt.
The publication site says under the “unannounced new project” section is a description that outlines Square Enix’s goal to realize a “next-generation action game experience.”
This IP will reportedly go beyond the framework of existing action games, and it won’t be made solely by a Japanese crew but an international team of creators from all over the world.
Here’s a summary that Gaming Bolt has up regarding this new work by Square Enix:
“Development Division is working on a “next-generation action game experience”. This is being developed with an “international team of creators from all over the world” and looks to take “a step forward from the existing action game framework.” The title is listed as a “New IP for HD console” but it’s release in the coming years could quality it for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.”
As for me, my hopes aren’t high for this thing. However, are you excited to see what Square Enix has up its sleeve regarding this new next-gen IP? Whatever it is, this game in the works aims to explore the action genre and take a step forward in the existing framework.
In the meantime, Square Enix’s latest work, Final Fantasy VII Remake, is due to release for PS4 on March 3rd, 2020.
