Hideo Kojima Teases Work On Next Concept For New Project

Whether you happen to fit into the Hideo Kojima polarizing equation where you either love him or hate him, it looks like there’s a new project that will further that equation. At the office, Kojima seems to be working on a new concept design for a working title and has been teasing it on Twitter.

If you find his work pretentious or intellectual, you’ll likely see something along those lines surfacing in the next couple of years. Yes, Kojima looks to be teasing the company’s next IP that he’s working on during the “concept” phase, according to a new report.

Website gamingbolt.com has a new piece up covering what Kojima might be cooking up at Kojima Productions, and although there’s nothing to really write home about regarding the tweet in the report, clues might be sitting right in front of us:

Kojima claims that he’s the only one at the office working on the concept for this new project, but I should note that the man loves to place items or imagery in his tweets to offer info to those looking for clues as to what he’s planning on doing.

In other words, if you want to play sleuth this holiday season, well, you have that to add to the list of things to do.

Anyway, not too long ago on November 24th, we reported on websites like gamesradar.com and digitaltrends.com covering a tweet by Kojima saying that he wants to see The Eye to help make the “scariest horror game.”

However, the latter website pulled up an interview between Kojima and Rocket Beans Gaming, where the creator of Death Stranding elaborates on making a “scary” title:

“I want to do a horror game one day, yes of course. I have some new ideas that I think kind of get out there. But I don’t know when. I’ll have to think about when I bring this out. Horror, when it comes to movies…You can kind of close your eyes watching a really fearful thing. Games are different than movies. If you close your eyes in a movie you can make it go away and the movie continues, but in games, it’s interactive. You have to move forward yourself.”

Moreover, this project may not even be a video game. Given the interview with BBC back in early November, Kojima told the Newsbeat section of the company the following:

“In the future, Kojima Productions will start making films. If you can do one thing well, then you can do everything well.

I think within the next few years, gaming will move on to streaming. Movies, dramas and games will all be streamed and you’ll enjoy them on your iPad or iPhone or a screen anytime, anywhere.

When that happens games, films and dramas will have to compete in the same space.

I’m very interested in the new format of game that will appear on there and that’s what I want to take on.”

With that said, no matter if this upcoming title by Kojima is a horror game, a new IP, or a movie, what is for certain is that he’s working on a new project as we speak.
