Yet another politically incorrect, anti-social injustice pundit has been financially deplatformed. This time it was Mr. Obvious, the YouTuber who points out all of the socially and culturally regressive antics being doled out by Left-wing keyboard activists.
Mr. Obvious revealed the deplatforming in a video he published on December 18th, 2019, showing the e-mail he received from PayPal in the video.
At the beginning of the video Mr. Obvious posted up the letter, which you can read below…
“We have recently reviewed your usage of PayPal’s services, as reflected in our records and on your social media. Due to the nature of your activities, we have chosen to discontinue service to you in accordance with PayPal’s User Agreement. As a result, we have placed a permanent limitation on your account.
“We ask that you please remove all references to PayPal from your website. This includes removing PayPal as a payment option, as well as the PayPal logo and/or shopping cart.
“If you have a remaining balance, you may withdraw the money to your bank account. Information on how to withdraw money from your PayPal account can be found via our Help Center. […]”
When Mr. Obvious went to access his PayPal account, he was greeted with the following, ominous warning message.
Mr. Obvious now joins other Libertarians, Conservatives, Republicans, and politically incorrect pundits on the deplatformed list, including but not limited to:
- Milo Yiannopoulos,
- Sargon of Akkad,
- James Allsup,
- Dick Masterson,
- Stefan Molyneux,
- Martina Markota,
- The Hacker News,
- Subscribe Star,
- And The Proud Boys.
Many of the deplatforming antics rolled out against businesses via payment processors was actually part of the FDIC’s antics that spawned from “Operation Choke Point”.
The measure was put into place during the Obama administration and was supposed to be decommissioned during President Trump’s term, but the only thing that happened was that the Justice Department wrote a strongly worded letter telling the FDIC to put an end to “Operation Choke Point” back in 2017, as reported by Politico, but they didn’t. Instead the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued a letter back in November, 2018 claiming that they would cease “Operation Choke Point” and offer better training regarding individual and business assessment of customer relations, but the deplatforming continued.
A few months later U.S. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer introduced a bill to end “Operation Choke Point” for good, with the latest effort having taken place back during January, 2019.
Sadly it doesn’t look like this will end, and we can expect the deplatforming to continue until there’s finally some end put to the abuses by payment processors.
Independent proprietors like Gab and Dick Masterson have attempted to introduce additional optional payment processing options, so hopefully these alternatives are adopted by the wider public as traditional payment processors continue to deplatform and censor customers.
