Xbox Series X “Exclusives” Will Appear A Year To 2 Years Later

The Xbox One, as many people know, had a lot of timed exclusives that ended up on other platforms such as PC. As for the upcoming Xbox Series X, many people either want to know the specs powering the device or what games/exclusives will accompany it at launch. Well, the head of Microsoft Studios, Matt Booty, says that the Xbox Series X exclusives are going to show up one to two years from now.

That’s not to say that the Xbox Series X won’t have any exclusives beforehand, but if folks are going to be treated to more timed exclusives and games heading up other platforms much like with the Xbox One, I’m not sure why one would settle for the new device.

Anyway, assuming the next-gen console won’t have timed exclusives and will have unique games that won’t hit PC, PS4 or Switch, the head of Microsoft Studios, Mr. Booty, says to expect these exclusives to drop from one year to two years in time.

The information on the Xbox Series X timed exclusives comes from website mcvuk.com. Additionally, you can read what Booty and crew have planned for Xbox goers right here:

“As our content comes out over the next year, two years, all of our games, sort of like PC, will play up and down that family of devices. We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Series X] that they feel that they made a good investment and that we’re committed to them with content.”

It should come in as no surprise that backward compatibility is a thing, given that the Xbox Team made mention that the Xbox Series X will support older titles. However, if the newer games are nothing to write home about and people move to Sony again, will the team rely on services like Xbox Game Pass to sell the console? Nope, to sell the console in Booty’s eyes is to bring “quality games and release them on time” as noted below:

“First of all, Sony’s done a fantastic job just across the board in terms of what they’ve done with building an audience, selling consoles, obviously, a number of amazing, great games that have come out of their first party teams. I try to stay away from framing things as a head-to-head bout with Sony, instead I think that it’s just up to us to focus on three things. First of all, we need to deliver on the promises that we make. So if we say a game is going to ship at a certain time, we’ve got to get that done, we just need to get better at executing.

We need to make sure that we hold the bar high on quality, and that we’re releasing games that we can be proud of and that the fans can be proud of as Xbox exclusives.”

Halo: Infinite will have test flights later throughout this year and will supposedly launch around the same time as the Xbox Series X. However, the Xbox Team’s exclusives will come a year to two years later.
