That’s it folks, Microsoft and the Xbox Team will no longer ship out more Xbox One X special editions from here on out. In other words, the Cyberpunk 2077 edition of the Xbox One X is the last one you’ll ever see, which is followed by news that there are only 45,000 units of the Cyberpunk 2077 edition of said console.
Website videogameschronicle.com has a report up sourcing from xbox.com that the Xbox One X isn’t going to see any love from here on out when it comes to special editions.
The bundle that sees CD Projekt Red and Microsoft coming together — with the end results being a Cyberpunk 2077 themed-Xbox One X and controller — will ship in limited numbers. Additionally, this special version of the console is billed by the latter company as being “rare”:
“Own a rare piece of Night City with new Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 bundle.
Be sure to keep an eye out for future details as this will be the final Xbox One X limited edition console to ever be released, and only 45,000 units will be available in select markets.”
Furthermore, the limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox wireless controller is available as of today and will run you $74.99 (at select retailers) by hitting up the Microsoft Store (either in-store or online).
Despite the controller being available right now, the bundle that includes the controller and console (sans the game itself) won’t be available until June 2020 — while the game will launch on September 17th, 2020. As of this writing, no specific release date for the bundle has surfaced.
To put things into perspective, the original Xbox One model was released in 2013. It was later succeeded by the Xbox One S in 2016, which is smaller than its predecessor but more powerful. And speaking of power, the Xbox One X, unveiled in June 2017, released in November, and was later bumped out of the way by the 2019 Xbox One S All-Digital (SAD) edition.
And now, Microsoft and the Xbox Team are gearing up to release the upcoming Xbox Series X consoles in Holiday 2020. However, it looks like the Xbox One X days are coming to an end after its 2017 debut, seeing that this is the last special edition of Microsoft’s most powerful console in the Xbox family until the Series X hits the scene.
