Ownership Of System Shock 3 Website Transferred To Tencent, According To Report

A new report has hit the web suggesting that System Shock 3 and the devs might have found investment from Tencent. Yes, the report in question goes on to say that ownership of System Shock 3’s website has been transferred to the Chinese mega-corporation best known as Tencent.

Boasting a pretty solid track record when it comes to finding various things around the net relating to video games and upcoming/unreleased titles, website videogameschronicle.com reports that both SystemShock3.com and SystemShock4.com had their ownership transferred from developer “Otherside Entertainment” to “Tencent.”

In addition to the above, the publication site follows up the ownership news with info highlighting that prior to this month (April), the domains were registered to “Otherside Entertainment director Paul Neurath.”

Moreover, the website notes that the devs over System Shock 3 have been searching for “new investment” throughout 2019 — this is after the company separated from its former partner Starbreeze in the same year.

Creative director Warren Spector later told the publication site in May 2019 that “talks were progressing with a lot of interested publishers,” which was later followed by an exodus of senior leads.

As of 2020, the website notes that OtherSide Entertainment has failed to “respond to requests for comment” and that Spector hasn’t been active on his social media channels “for more than four months.”

If all of the above is true, Asia’s second-biggest company by market value, Tencent, will have yet another studio added to the 800 plus companies relying on it. Here’s the current list of known companies that Tencent has a stake in as of 2020:

  • Riot Games – 100%
  • Sharkmob – 100%
  • Supercell – 84.3%
  • Grinding Gear Games – 80%
  • Epic Games – 40%

  • Sumo Group and Sumo Digital – 10%
  • Frontier Developments – 9%
  • Ubisoft – 5%
  • Activision Blizzard – 5%
