Kaze And The Wild Masks Demo Available For Limited Time On Xbox One

Soedeso and PixelHive announced that there’s currently a playable demo for Kaze and the Wild Masks that you can grab as part of the summer fest on the Xbox One. The demo will only be available between July 21st and July 27th, so you’ll need to act fast.

The game is a traditionally hand-animated 2D side-scroller, made as a love-letter to the 16-bit era of platformers.

You play as Kaze, a blue rabbit who must traverse through various treacherous landscapes using a variety of masks that give her special powers to overcome Kaze’s foes. You can jump, run, and partially glide using Kaze’s ears like a helicopter, somewhat like Knuckles but without the ability to bop anything in the way.

You can get an glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

The game obviously takes a lot of inspiration from Sonic the Hedgehog and new-school classics like Freedom Planet. Each level is designed with its own unique gimmicks, enemies, secrets, and traps.

So far it looks like it’s a classically wholesome side-scroller designed to be fun for the whole family without any of the degeneracy that has ruined so many other brands and genres in [current year].

Heck, the game even features bonus stages that are tucked away in certain levels, which is a nice little throwback to developers including hidden Easter eggs in games before they removed them all and sold them back to players as microtransactions or DLC.

Anyway, the other big news is that Soedesco has plans on bringing Kaze and the Wild Masks to all the major home consoles. This includes a release on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, in addition to launching on PC. A release date still hasn’t been set yet, though.
