The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Characters are mostly based on the historical person, well, you know that already. Because that’s what the Assassin’s Creed series has been known for since the beginning. If things are completely built entirely on a fantasy world, I think the Assassin’s Creed game will be a totally different thing. Like the combination of WatchDog Legion and Assassin’s creed in a game. It will be fun though, but a totally different feeling will be received.

That’s why this compilation of AC Valhalla’s character is created to give you insight into the characters that are based on the historical figure. Let’s dive in!

Honorable mention of assassin’s creed Valhalla character: Eivor Varinsdottir

Our very first list of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Character compilation begins with the main characters,  the only assassin’s creed Valhalla playable characters. I think it’s really important to mention her because all the stories are based on the main character’s point of view. Pointing out to Eivor Varinsdottir, a well-known Viking warrior who seeks vengeance for the death of his father. She then takes the journey in ancient Norway and England.

The main character of Eivor Varinsdottir is really unique compared with the previous Assassin’s Creed game. the gender can be chosen based on your wish, you can choose whatever you want and it wouldn’t change the entire story. But if you choose the third option – let the animus decide, then Eivor will appear as a female character.

Harald Fairhair

Move up into the next list in our assassin’s creed Valhalla character is the Harald Fairhair. He is an important role in defeating Kjotve the Cruel as Harald lends his army to Eivor to defeat Kjotve. After completing the mission, Harald told Eivor and Sigurd about his plan in uniting all Norse under his banner. He then receives the title of the First King Of Norway when his plan succeeds.

Historians in the real world have been debated about the existence of Harald Fairhair. Because he was well-known as the first crown king of Norway, but all the information’s regarding him is unknown even until this day. Regardless, he is a fine leader and his power united all Vikings under one country.

Ubba Ragnarsson

The commander of the Great Heathen Army, Ubba Ragnarson the type of character that will show frequently within the game. he also has a good relationship with the main characters, making it easily recognizable while playing the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Ubba Ragnarsson, the son of Ragnar Lothbrok, the infamous Viking figure in ancient times. During the Viking invasion, Ubba then becomes the basic figure of the Viking invader alongside Ivarr the Boneless.

Ivarr the Boneless

Ivarr Is the brother of Ubba Ragnarson, the same person who also become the archetype of Viking invaders during ancient times. He entitles King Killer thanks to his effort in killing three different kings at different times. At first, Ivarr has a friendly type of character but slowly becomes more into the villain side as he got consumed by his thirst of blood and insanity. Well, in the end, he died in the hand of Eivor. Such an unfortunate event.

In the real-life, Ivarr is one of the leaders of the Great heathen Army together with his brother. But the title of “the boneless” has come from various figures, although the reason is different between one and another.

King Oswald

Moving from the Viking tribe into the royal family. King Oswald is considered one of the assassin’s creed Valhalla characters with warmth in his heart. He loves peace and will avoid any unneeded drop of blood. At the same time, King Oswald is the person who is willing to die for the sake of his people and will dirty his hand with the enemy’s blood if necessary.

 The game aside, King Oswald doesn’t have any historical records found until the present. The only clue about his existence is through the coins that are found by the archeologist in which were created for him entirely.

Count Odo

You cannot really distinguish people based on the first impression. Yap, it happens with Count Odo in the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla game. Started as an enemy and ended as an ally after Eivor decided to end the conflict with peace. It makes Odo see Eivor as a more brave figure than his former lord, then succeeded in the throne right after Charles was defeated.

The real-life of Count Odo doesn’t really that different from real life. He is one of the bravest men among the Vikings, his bravery is shown during countless battles that show his skill and his high spirit.

King Ceolwulf II

The King of Ceolwulf II of Mercia is a top man and such an honorable figure with good intention during his leadership. In the game, King Ceolwulf received help from Eivor and his Group Ubba, Ivarr, and Sigurd until he becomes the successor of the throne.

In the real world, King Ceolwulf II was the successor of the throne in the kingdom of Mercia. His bloodline was drawn directly from the previous Mercian King, the Coenwulf the first. Well, it’s easily seen from the family name.

He is definitely one of assassin’s creed valhalla historical characters. 

Saint Richardis

In our next list, we have the wife of Charles the Fat that is rescued by Eivor multiple times in the Paris story. Her name is Saint Richardis, a woman who is deeply in love with Charles the Fat but receives numerous mocks from her husband.

Aside from the story in the game, Saint Richard is considered a kind figure and loved by her people and worshipped. Later on, she received the title Saint to be added in her name.

Gozlin of Paris

On the quest of Richard is, Eivor meets the little villain called Gozlin. He is a member of Bellatores Dei, the secret religious organization that is created solely to capture Richardis. During the Siege of Paris, Gozlin was seen but somehow disappear and then it was known that Gozlin is survived during that time. Not long after, his fate comes to an end in the hand of Eivor the Main Character.

In the real world, Gozlin is also known as Joscelin. The protector of Paris from the invasion of the Vikings as well as the bishop of the church. Later on, he was infected by the plague that ravage the city of Paris.

Charles the Fat

During the Siege of Paris, the main role as the antagonist was filled by Charles the Fat. He is the embodiment of the seven deadly sins as it was shown in his appearance. He is ambitious, cunning, and hard to defeat. Eivor even needs the help of Sigfred just to bring this man down.

Different from what is portraited in the game, the reality is slightly different. Charles the Fat can rule over different empires like Italy, Western Francia, and East Francia. Though he was always seen as incompetent and people said his success was based totally on luck.

Honorable mention of assassin’s creed Valhalla villain: Kjotve the Cruel

Kjotve the Cruel is an important role within the game. although his villainess, he is also known as the first Norse member in the Order of the Ancients – the secret organizations who evolved into what we will know as The order of Templar. Kjotve and the wolf clan are responsible for the massacre of the raven clan, it eventually ended in the death of Eivor’s father.

Kjotve doesn’t have any base of historical figures. I think it is really important to mention his presence of him because thanks to Kjotve in massacring the raven Clan, Eivor can fulfill his role in obliterating the member of the Order of Ancients.

Unlike the Greece mythology that is told during the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, many historians had a hard time researching the background of each Norse character. Therefore the information that is found enough for us to know the personality that it was based upon. The AC Valhalla Characters is diverse and the main character will meet most of them.
