Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Is EVO 2017’s Final User Pick

EVO 2017 already has its final set of eight games that will be showcased during the weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada for the biggest FGC tournament of the year. However, they left one slot open for users to pick the game they wanted to see make it to the EVO weekend, and that game was none other than Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

It’s a no brainer choice given that it’s easily one of the most popular attractions of the annual EVO event. According to Game Informer there was a charity held through Generosity and the Capcom and Marvel crossover managed to come out on top with the most donations, bringing in more than $72,000. The game with the most donations was selected as the user pick.

The next game in line with the most donations was Pokken Tournament, the Bandai Namco fighter for the Wii U. They managed to rack up $65,000 in donations. I’m genuinely shocked given that Nintendo already has two Super Smash Bros. games that are part of this year’s EVO tournament.

The other games on the user pick list included Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat XL, amongst others.

Poor ‘ole Killer Instinct. Despite the game actually being very entertaining to watch and a great all around fighting title, it’s just really had a hard time gaining legs and maintaining popularity. Mortal Kombat XL on the other hand is surprising to see not make the cut. I always thought that Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter were the staples of EVO, but I guess not.

Instead, NetherRealm will be replacing Mortal Kombat XL with Injustice 2. There won’t be a whole lot of time to practice and even less time to issue balance patches to fix any potentially broke characters, but we’ll see how well this all plays out when EVO rolls around this July.

Additionally, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will also make it onto PS4, Xbox One and PC for the very first time starting March 7th next month. According to “Mr. Wizard”, the EVO organizer, they will be using the PS4 version of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
