Super NES Classic Edition Set To Launch With Star Fox 2 On Sept 29th

Oh, boy, Nintendo has stirred up a lot of love and hate at the same time with the announcement of the Super NES Classic Edition. The retro yet new console will debut with the never before released title Star Fox 2, along with 20 other classic games. The Super NES Classic Edition is set to be available for $79.99 come September 29th.

As of right now there are people calling Nintendo cheap for selling “shovel-ware” for $79.99, while there are other people in awe that they will finally have a chance to buy the Super NES Classic Edition that comes pre-loaded with Star Fox 2 — a game that was never released to the public.

The announcement of the Super NES Classic Edition has also sparked some fans to be in disappointment in that other classic games like Chrono Trigger, Mega Man X 2, Secret of Evermore, and other games did not make the cut but Kirby titles instead made the list.

In addition to the love and hate, people are saying that this promotes other Nintendo fans to buy up a mass amount of the Super NES Classic Edition units to re-sell them at a higher price, while others see this as an opportunity to finally play the system and the games in real life for the first time. However you may feel about the current situation, Nintendo hopes to bring the Super NES Classic Edition to the market along with the following games:

  • Super Mario World
  • F-Zero
  • Super Mario Kart
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Super Metroid
  • Street Fighter II Turbo
  • Super Punch-Out
  • Castlevania IV
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Mega Man X
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Final Fantasy III
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • Star Fox
  • Yoshi’s Island
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Contra III
  • Secret of Mana
  • EarthBound
  • Super Ghouls ‘N’ Ghosts
  • Star Fox 2

Lastly, an HDMI cable, one USB charging cable with an AC adapter, and two wired Super NES Classic controllers are included with the Super NES Classic Edition. The console will be available for $79.99 when September 29th rolls around.
