THQ Nordic Announces TimeSplitters Co-Creator Steve Ellis Is Helping Out With The Franchise

Fans of the original TimeSplitters games will likely have fond memories of the wacky time splitting moments. Even though the series was to see the fourth installment after TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, sadly that didn’t happen. Back in 2018, Deep Silver acquired the TimeSplitters IP, and now THQ Nordic has just revealed series creator Steve Ellis has joined the company to help out with the franchise.

Personally speaking, I had fun playing the older TimeSplitters games. Messing around with bots, and playing various games modes was always a fun thing to do, especially mixing and matching weapons. But most importantly, making stages was the go-to feature.

It’s also worth mentioning that the series did not shy away from sporting busty and exotic female characters, and if current year politics in video games hold any indication then expect the next installment to be absent of such things.

With my thoughts out of the way, THQ Nordic took to its investor relations page to announce that they’re delighted to bring series creator, Steve Ellis, onboard to help “plot the future course for this franchise”:

 > Last year Deep Silver acquired the much-loved TimeSplitters IP. We’re delighted to announce that one of the series’ creators, Steve Ellis, has joined us to help plot the future course for this franchise.

As always, this kind of talk gets me excited… with caution, though. I say this because what happens if THQ Nordic brings back all three TimeSplitters games unaltered or releases the trio as a remastered-bundle, but they’re for the Epic Games Store? Problems like this are never out of the equation.

Like always, time will tell what we get and how we get it. With that said, THQ Nordic loves to release info on the franchise every August. In other words, if the trend continues, we’ll hopefully learn more about the next entry in the TimeSplitters series by August 2020.
