Sega, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games will release Sonic Mania Plus in the West across PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on July 17th, 2018. The game will run for $29.99 and will feature a host of content; like two new playable characters.
That’s right, Sonic Mania Plus will debut in North America and Europe on July 17th, running potential buyers $29.99 to take home a copy of said game. However, folks who purchased the original digital version of Sonic Mania will be able to get the new “Plus” content through the “Encore” DLC pack for $4.99.
Furthermore, users who prefer the physical edition of games will find that Sonic Mania Plus will include a holographic slipcover, reversible (Mega Drive or Sega Genesis) marked sleeve and a 32-page Sonic Mania art book upon purchase.
Looking over to what Sonic Mania Plus offers content-wise, folks will be introduced to two new playable characters, which happen to be Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel.
In addition to the above, an “Encore Mode” will be present that offers a fresh look at familiar zones and new challenges/layouts. As for the “Competition Mode” and “Time Attack Mode,” the two will receive an update allowing for four player competitions, as well as ghost challenges for time trials.
According to Sonic Mania Plus official trailer, as posted below, viewers can get a first look at Mighty and Ray, a treat to a special remix of “Time Trials Plus” by Hyper Potions and Jun Senoue, and a look at a special animation by Tyson Hesse.
Lastly, and as mentioned above, Sonic Mania Plus will be available as a physical version and as a digital download through DLC if you already own the game. Users who purchased the original digital version of Sonic Mania will be able to get the new content via the “Encore” DLC pack for $4.99, when July 17th rolls around.
