YouTube Puts Logan Paul YouTube Red Projects On Indefinite Hold

YouTube responded to the Logan Paul video where he filmed a dead body in Aokigahara, Japan, also known as “Suicide Forest” since a lot of young men go out there to kill themselves. YouTube’s comment comes courtesy of a Twitter thread, where they state that they’re looking into further consequences to take against Paul, in addition to writing him out of the YouTube Red show Foursome, and indefinitely suspending one of his movie projects called The Thinning: New World Order, according to Current Hollywood.

The tweets from YouTube were posted on January 9th, 2018 where the thread states…

“An open letter to our community: Many of you have been frustrated with our lack of communication recently. You’re right to be. You deserve to know what’s going on.

“Like many others, we were upset by the video that was shared last week.

Suicide is not a joke, nor should it ever be a driving force for views. As Anna Akana put it perfectly: “That body was a person someone loved. You do not walk into a suicide forest with a camera and claim mental health awareness.”

“We expect more of the creators who build their community on @YouTube, as we’re sure you do too. The channel violated our community guidelines, we acted accordingly, and we are looking at further consequences.

“It’s taken us a long time to respond, but we’ve been listening to everything you’ve been saying. We know that the actions of one creator can affect the entire community, so we’ll have more to share soon on steps we’re taking to ensure a video like this is never circulated again.”

There was a pretty big uproar from various groups across social media asking for YouTube to either shut down Paul’s account or severely punish him for simply posting up a video of the Suicide Forest.

Twitter user Mombot translated how some of the Japanese felt about Logan Paul by giving international users an idea of what they were saying.

Logan Paul released multiple apologies, but it wasn’t enough. The trial by social media deemed him guilty of political incorrectness and cultural disrespect, and so they peppered YouTube with criticisms until YouTube finally did something about it. It’s not too dissimilar to what happened to PewDiePie and the media after he dropped the N-bomb during a live-stream.

We’ll see if the company will eventually release The Thinning: New World Order once the attacks against Paul die down or if they’ll pull a Kevin Spacey and attempt to blacklist him from their future endeavors.
