Twitch is a popular platform that many gamers use to stream different games. Many things come from livestream services like Twitch such as charity drives, speed runs and sometimes special events. Well, it looks like Facebook has something in the works that might mirror Twitch, and they currently have the service in testing.

On January 26th, 2018, Facebook posted on its Developer News portal that a new pilot program focused on helping video game streamers build up an audience on Facebook is underway.

It is said that over the last year the team over at Facebook have made an effort to build up a gaming scene to help solidify the future of gaming videos on Facebook.

“We’re focused on helping creators build thriving communities on Facebook, and over the last year we’ve made a concerted effort to listen to and work with gaming creators to help shape the future of gaming video on Facebook. For gaming creators, we’ve seen Facebook Live become particularly impactful. It’s changed how people come together around video, and it gives gaming creators the chance to build and connect with their community in real time.”

The pilot program aims to achieve the following points:

• Helping game creators establish a meaningful and engaging communities on Facebook than anywhere else.
• Increasing distribution across multiple platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Oculus.
• Supporting gaming creators through different tools to make a living streaming games via Facebook.
• Building a platform where creators at every level have the opportunity to thrive.

Elements such as 1080p videos and 60fps capabilities will be a thing, but more details about this program, monetization and its future state will likely unveil in the near future.
