Firstly, I’d like to point out that although this might mean nothing to some people in that it’s just Capcom renewing yet another video game’s trademark, it’s worth pointing out that Capcom actively wants to reawaken dormant IPs such as Dino Crisis if fans show enough interest.
To ease the skeptic in someone thinking, “Yeah, every company renews trademarks even if the IP is long gone dead.” Back on December 29th, 2017, Capcom showed interest in making a new Dino Crisis game:
Thanks everyone! Hope these wishes will come true one day…;) Dev1 will keep doing our best on making such great games worth playing this year, too!

In 2018, Capcom had an investor report that revealed the company wanting to explore older titles through remakes. Here’s what Capcom had to say about older titles and remakes:
“Further, regarding remakes and re-releases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP.”
Jump to June 2019, and we learn from website videogameschronicle.com and Capcom’s managing corporate officer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, that new games and characters will appear in the future as well as more remakes and re-releases:
“We’re not giving up on the idea of creating new characters and series, it’s just we’re doing quite well at the moment with bringing new, fresh approaches to our existing series.”
In October of this year, website metro.co.uk looked over Capcom’s integrated report for 2019 and found the company wants to “awaken dormant intellectual properties.” You can read the quote from the publication site right here:
“The most exciting bit for fans though is Capcom’s three-point plan for the future, which is to 1. strengthen digital sales, 2. increase the length of support for existing titles, and 3. ‘awaken dormant intellectual properties’.”
That’s right, ever since 2017, Capcom has been dropping hints that the team wants to explore older IPs such as Dino Crisis. However, website gameonze.com found on chizai-watch.com that Capcom has renewed Dino Crisis’ trademark:
“The Japanese company has filed numerous trademarks. There’s something for everyone: from Power Stone to Cyberbots, via Rockman (Mega Man), Tech Romancer, Progear, and Bionic Commando. The one that has attracted the most attention, however, is undoubtedly Dino Crisis, since we have been waiting for Regina’s return for almost twenty years now.”
Whether Capcom makes Dino Crisis in the near future, would you want to see Regina in current year? Also, do you think the game would be free of censorship, ugly female characters, or propaganda injected into the main story?
