Report Claims Google Stadia App Downloads Sit Around 175k

First and foremost, I want to stress that Google has not released the official numbers behind Stadia yet. However, a new report taking information from Sensor Tower offers somewhat of a peek into Stadia’s performance on the market.

According to gamesindustry.biz, the Stadia application is necessary to have to use “Google Stadia.” In case you do not know, the app is the only way to purchase or cast games to one’s browser or TV through Chromecast (the latter of which is reportedly burning up due to the Stadia).

In other words, the report iterates that without an access code received from purchasing Stadia, the app is pretty much useless if you do not have Google Stadia.

With all of that said, the website pulls an estimate from the number of downloads of the mobile app via Sensor Tower. The latter firm relays that the Google Stadia app has been downloaded over 175,000 times.

Over the course of so many days for a big company, some are saying that that number is nothing to write home about. However, I should note, these aren’t the official numbers — but they do offer a peek into the digital world that is app number downloads.

Games Industry also reports that Sensor Tower says 90.7% of all downloads of the Stadia app were on Android devices. This means that there were fewer Stadia folks on iOS compared to Android users.

The former site suggests why the platform split is so big between the two operating systems with the following:

“Stadia can only be played on mobile via Pixel phones, making it a more appealing prospect to those already going through the Play Store in the first place.”

On the topic of Android users being the dominate number, the report also touches on the U.S. accounting for over 41% of all downloads of the Stadia app. Additionally, if these numbers are anything to go by, Stadia is doing the best in the U.S. and needs serious help.

Lastly, when Google offers info on Stadia’s market performance, we’ll let you know.
