Bandai Namco Reveals Digimon Survive Opening Movie

Folks who missed out on the “Future of Digimon” panel at Anime Expo 2019 earlier this month now have the chance to see Digimon Survive’s opening movie. Bandai Namco released the video today, which was once exclusive to attendees of said event.

If you don’t know, Digimon Survive aims to bring a brand-new experience set in a “mysterious world.” According to the official memo, Survive sees a new cast of kids, led by Takuma Momozuka, lost on a school camping trip into a world of “monsters and danger.”

I have no idea if this is fluff or an actual feature to be implemented in the game, but as you fight your way back home through an animated world of “difficult decisions” and “deadly battles,” your choices throughout the game will supposedly impact the evolution of monster allies and the final ending. Either this feature will be something to remember, or it could go sour. Time will tell.

While we wait on more info to confirm the above, the forthcoming game will feature music by Tomoki Miyoshi, while character designs are by Uichi Ukumo. Additionally, you can see and hear their work right here via the opening movie:

Moreover, for those of you who missed out on the “Future of Digimon” panel at Anime Expo 2019, you can check out the entire panel right here. The video sees both Digimon games producer, Habu Kazumasa, and Digimon film producer, Yosuke Kinoshita, discuss the future of the franchise:

Looking back to Digimon Survive, the game in question follows Momozuka and a list of well known Digimon — alongside a list of new characters and digital monsters — in a story that you can alter with “life-changing decisions.”

If all of that sounds like good fun, you can expect this title to drop sometime in 2020. Digimon Survive is currently slated to hit PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
