Sony, Soyny, or whatever you’d like to call the company, will host the latest State of Play event in the next five days across social media or the regular streaming services. The upcoming event is reported by the company to reveal a hefty amount of game-related stuff.
Contrary to the hefty amount of game-related stuff is no mention or content on the PlayStation 5. Yes, the blog post makes mention not to expect any updates related to the next-gen or plans on it — much like expecting Sony to appear at this year’s E3.
Anyway, the blog post over on blog.us.playstation.com details that many things related to game studios and video games are the cornerstone of this 20-minute long special, which is accompanied by a new look:
“We’re preparing a pretty hefty show, weighing in at around 20 minutes and sporting a fresh new look. And we’ll have some great news to share with you, including new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates. Should be fun!”
And the third paragraph is the confirmation to the notion of the PlayStation 5 or next-gen Sony system not making an appearance at State of Play:
“Oh, and it probably bears mentioning: Don’t expect any updates related to our next-gen plans in this episode.”
All of this will kick-off on September 24th at 1:00 P.M. Pacific Time / 4:00 P.M. Eastern Time.
As for speculations, The Last of Us: Part 2 might make an appearance at this State of Play given that the big meme man himself, Geoff Keighley, announced on Twitter that there is a media event for the woke game later in September.
And…here….we…..go! See you later this month @Naughty_Dog @Neil_Druckmann pic.twitter.com/LL6RZVbJc1

So what does this all mean? It means PS5 news is absent at this event, and that The Last of Us: Part 2 touches down on the same day as the aforementioned State of Play show.
