E3 2020 Will Still Kick-Off In June Despite Coronavirus Concerns

Although the coronavirus has many vendors and events worried, it looks the ESA is still going through with its plans this June. That’s correct, the annual games event is still on target for June 9th, 2020.

I’m sure you’ve read that vendors and various people were pulling out of events such as PAX East 2020 and GDC 2020, right? Well, it looks like the ESA is taking “cautious measures” but won’t cancel or push E3 2020.

According to website nintendolife.com, we learn that the ESA will stay “vigilant” and keep a close eye on the coronavirus situation, but will continue efforts despite other companies and events taking precautions measures.

You can read the ESA’s letter on the situation regarding this year’s E3 and the coronavirus:

“Everyone is watching the situation very closely. We will continue to be vigilant, as our first priority is the health, wellness and safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning. Exhibit and registration sales are on track for an exciting show in June.”

Although E3 2020 will still go through the usual ropes like any other year, the event will kick-off without Geoff Keighley.

As of now, we know that both Sony and Keighley will be absent from this year’s ESA backed games event.

Contrary to absentees, we do know that the company that bent its knee to ResetEra, Limited Run Games, will be holding its very own vendor booth at the trade show this year. In addition, the Xbox Team will not skip out on the upcoming event according to a tweet by Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

Lastly, the ESA wants to bolster E3’s numbers by earning back your trust this time around. In the meantime, this year’s E3 registrations are live (ever since February 15th), while the actual event will kick-off on June 9th, 2020.
