Do you want more games from Square Enix even after Final Fantasy VII Remake? If you answered “yes,” then know that the company will announce new games either next month or sometime in August. This information comes from a new report covering Square Enix’s latest shareholder meeting.
Like any other publisher or developer gearing up for the summer trade show, best known as E3 2020, Square Enix was going to showcase its latest portfolio of games and then carry on promoting said titles until release day.
However, due to the coronavirus, E3 2020 was canceled and will kick-off next year. This fragmented the annual trade event into an individual thing where publication sites, publishers, and developers host their own digital events to show off whatever new projects are ready for public viewing or consumption.
With that said, you can read what Square Enix had to say about new games being revealed in the next couple of months at a shareholder meeting thanks to website videogameschronicle.com:
“We would normally announce new games at E3. We had planned to have a press conference as a replacement event, but were unable to do so since assets were not complete. We’ll be announcing new titles individually as the timing permits. Several will debut around July to August.”
If you have been keeping up with Square Enix, none of the above should come in as a surprise given that Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said in January that the company was “making steady progress” on “next-gen console titles.”
Speaking of next-gen games, Square Enix also noted back on November 6th, 2019, that development on a “next-gen action game” is so far going well. This means that one of these new next-gen games consist of at least one “action title.”
Lastly, are you looking forward to whatever Square Enix has cooking up for PC or next-gen consoles?
