Real-time strategy games like Halo Wars are always a fan-favorite. It brings countless elements from brain puzzle to action wars to the table which make it so appealing for the players.

Halo Wars is a real-time strategy video game set in the Halo universe. It was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios for Xbox 360 on February 17, 2009. A sequel, Halo Wars 2, was released on February 21, 2017.

Halo Wars takes place during the original trilogy of “Halo” games. The single-player campaign follows human soldiers charged with defending Earth from an alien invasion led by the Covenant’s religious leaders who believe that humans are abominations against their god. As they battle to survive both the aliens and rival military factions within their own ranks, the Commanders of this new breed of warfare must uncover secrets about their past while outfitting their forces for the future.

Halo Wars is a real-time strategy video game, meaning players will have to focus on managing their bases and armies while developing strategies to ensure victory at the end of each mission. Players collect resources, build base facilities that produce units, upgrade existing structures for better performance, and repair damaged buildings.

In addition to carrying out orders, they can also command-specific units as well as take control of those units and directly participate in the battle via a third-person perspective. The control scheme used is similar to Microsoft’s Age of Empires series with some features borrowed from Bungie’s previous title, “Halo 3: ODST”. For example, players move their units around by selecting them and then dragging a circle around the units they wish to issue an order to.

Halo Wars supports both single-player and online multiplayer for up to six players in teams of two or three in any combination of local or Xbox Live gamers. Players can also choose to play cooperatively on a split-screen on one console, with each playing as a specific unit type.

Halo Wars features twelve campaign missions, but only the first four are available initially; individual campaigns must be unlocked during gameplay by completing their predecessors before they become available for selection. These campaign missions are linear, meaning players have to complete one mission before moving on to the next one. The last two missions are unique in that once they are unlocked, players can choose which of them to attempt first.
