Blizzard Will Be Skipping Gamescom 2019 To Focus On Project Development

If you’re a fan of events like E3 or Gamescom (or not), do know that Blizzard will be skipping out on Gamescom 2019 this year. The company claims that as part of its renewed effort(s)  to maintain focus on development (on its current games and future projects) the company won’t have a booth at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

It seems things at Blizzard aren’t going well in the games and development department given that the company won’t appear at Gamescom 2019. As per a new blog post on news.blizzard.com, the company explains why it won’t attend the European version of E3:

“As part of a renewed effort this year to maintain our focus on development, for our current games and our future projects, we won’t have a booth at gamescom 2019. The show is an important one for the European and global gaming community, and we’re going to miss meeting players in Cologne this year. You’ll still be able to find Blizzard gear in the gamescom 2019 shop area, and we’re looking forward to returning to the gamescom show floor in the future. We’re also looking forward to sharing more details about the projects we’re currently working on when the time is right.”

Folks who live in Cologne, Germany or those who wish to go there to see Blizzard in action at Gamescom 2019 will only find nothing but merchandise. Yes, the shop area will be live and active to sell gear but no actual booth for announcing games and playing Blizzard titles according to the open letter.

However, Blizzard plans on sharing more details on projects it’s currently working on only “when the time is right.” And I bet Blizzard’s projects call for fans to have phones, because who doesn’t have phones, right?
