Back in 2019, when Baldur’s Gate 3 was first announced, the gaming circle became excited. The Baldur’s Gate was created by the same studio who made Divinity Original Sin 2, which is Larian Studios. It’s quite impossible not to get thrilled by a game that is created by team behind one of the most well loved RPG, Dungeons and Dragons.

Today that Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally here, there are a lot of things that it must live up to, and it feels that it has succeeded. The game is as exciting as any Dungeons and Dragons adventure. It is comprised of characters that you need to look twice. Place the players in a place they are not familiar with, and Baldur’s Gate 3 appears at gate swinging.

At the start of the game, you will find yourself on a mind-flayers ship. While the mind-flayers are getting busy kidnapping folks and throwing tadpoles into your eyes, which make you wonder and ask – who are you?

You can choose the voice that you want, no matter what your gender is. However, the hair options will depend on the gender. This is quite odd considering the options that was just mentioned. There’s also something missing in the different body types based on the different races. Also, take note that the dwarven body can’t turn into a human body and vice versa, which is strange considering that there are ripped elven druid included in the game. Also, there is not option for being chubby. 

What Happens Next?

Once you are finished creating your character, you’ll end up in a big mind-flayer ship. Here, you can choose to make friends with brains with legs and meet your first companion. Do this within five to ten minutes. This is too much for beginners. The mini-tutorials are just useless. This can be challenging for those who have never played any Larian’s Divinity games or do not know how D&D works. Perhaps Larian should make their tutorials more approachable and make their UI easier to explore with.

is Baldur’s Gate 3 Too Violent?

When it comes to violence, the fights in Baldur’s Gate 3 is top-notch. After Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios promise to do more Divinity games.  It offers the same craziness, which is anticipated from a Larian game. You can choose to do things based on the book or you can do it on your own. For instance, you can gather tons of oil barrels and throw them at people, then set them on fire. This is something truly satisfying and it can even get better with the different options for the classes and subclasses. Explaining the method on how to get rid of your enemies will take all day. Just keep in mind that the action “Shove” can be very valuable. If you use it more often, then you can have some hilarious outcomes. Another excellent alternative is “Throw” if you like to shove a dead enemy.

Conclusion

Does the game live to your expectations? Well, it will be up to the players themselves. Although it does not have the same character types of those weird tavern names, however, it comes close to Dungeons and Dragons. And this is something Larian should be proud of.
