One of the new games that has been making the rounds on PC and Xbox One is A Crowd of Monsters’ Blues and Bullets. It’s a story-driven noir title with a mix of cover-based shooting, choice-based dialogue and some light point-and-click action. There is a walkthrough available for the first episode of the game, which is available right now.
YouTuber RabidRetrospectGames has up the first full episode of the title, covering the basic dialogue sequences, the shooting segments and more. You can check out the playthrough below.
The game’s only real difficult segments are the shooting sequences, where the lack of having to reload the machine gun and the stiff aiming could frustrate some gamers. The inconsistent recoil could also pose a problem. The only real way around it is to just make small movements with the reticule toward the intended target and fire away.
The game offers up a couple of different choices for a number of segments, but it’s hard to tell right now how much of any of the choices will play in the outcome of the game until the second and third episodes become available. There aren’t any real puzzles in the first episode so getting stuck doesn’t seem like it’s really all that possible… then again, I didn’t think it was possible to get stuck in Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, but some people did.
Graphically the game looks good, the aesthetics are nice and the style is very striking. However, the animations, poor lip-synch and shoddy shooting sequences might turn some gamers off.
The gameplay seems like a more limited version of L.A. Noire. You can walk around some segments and look at various objects but it’s all very linear. Then again, the first episode of Life is Strange was also fairly limited and things didn’t really open up much until the second and third episode.
You can pick up a digital copy of episode 1 of Blues and Bullets right now for PC or Xbox One. You can also learn more about the game by paying a visit to the official website.
