Activision and Treyarch are planning on releasing the Eclipse DLC for the PS4 starting April 19th later this month. The DLC will mark the second of four expansion set to arrive for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on home consoles and PC. However, the DLC will not be available for the PS3.
In a report by Design & Trend, they note that in the updated FAQ over on the official Activision support page the PS3 will no longer receive new DLC packs after the Awakening DLC released.
The page states…
“Q: Will any future DLC map packs come out for PlayStation 3?
“We do not have plans for any DLC to follow Awakening on PlayStation 3.”
It’s weird but they don’t mention anything about the Xbox 360. It’s about time, though, that Activision finally let go of the decade old seventh gen consoles. I mean, really think about that… they’re supporting decade old hardware. That would be laughable back in the 90s.
The FAQ page previously mentioned that the Xbox 360 and PS3 wouldn’t be getting season pass support because the content would be too much for the old consoles. So that means no more zombie DLC for you old-gen console users.
In addition to the news spreading about the seventh gen consoles not receiving any of the new Eclipse DLC going out for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Activision and Treyarch let loose a teaser trailer featuring one of the four multiplayer maps in the upcoming pack. The trailer is for the map called “Verge”. You can check it out below, it’s only 18 seconds long.
It looks like a map from the game Brink.
There are a lot of corridors and small skirmish moments sprinkled throughout the shanty-town map.
Most people are probably going to be excited about the new zombie map to see what happens after Der Eisendrache.
As stated, you can look for the DLC to drop on April 19th and it won’t be for the Xbox 360 and PS3. I think it might be safe to assume that any future Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC – while it’s blatantly stated that it won’t be coming to PS3 – also won’t be arriving for Xbox 360 either.
